On 7th November, 2013, 16 of us went to North Greenwich for a ride on the Emirates Air Line. It was a fine, if cool and breezy day. We experienced the hustle and bustle of the crowds flocking to the O2 for the tennis - most of us don't "do" the rush hours like that any more, but we regrouped, bemused but intact at North Greenwich. A short walk got us to the Air Line terminal and we were soon up in the air, merrily laughing and pointing, particularly at those in the party who had forgotten they were scared of heights! On the north bank we took another short stroll to The Crystal, London's newest architectural landmark and the world's largest interactive exhibition exploring the future of our cities. We had an excellent and very reasonably priced lunch before investigating the exhibition itself.
After the return trip across the river, we strolled eastwards to the Ecology Park where we spotted a rare bird - a water rail. Some of us then continued to have tea at Waterstones, a lovely end to a pleasant, interesting and congenial day.
Here are some pictures from the day.
