We are a friendly, mixed-age group of approximately 80 from West Wickham, Kent, and surrounding areas. We cherish our older members, younger members, and those in between. We welcome visitors and have hostesses who will greet and look after you. You may attend three meetings per year before we will ask you to join and we currently have a few vacancies. Please use the contact form if you have questions, and we will email you.
There is usually a speaker at our meetings (see "Programme" tab), you will have a chance to find out what is going on and chat to other members. We often have a "Social Half Hour" in the latter part of the meeting when members lead the entertainment.
Ravenswood has several smaller groups which meet regularly - an informal Needles and Natter, craft clubs and groups, Whist and Mahjong, a Sunday lunch group, a Book group, and a Drama Group which presents a Christmas pantomine and occasional other items. There are also various activities organised by members, such as walking and visits to places of interest. We set up, and continue to run, the Memory Box Cafe for dementia sufferers and their carers, which meets in West Wickham twice monthly. We are part of the Kent Gate Group of WIs and of the wider Kent-West Kent Federation both of which have occasional activities and crafting workshops. All WIs are part of the national movement, NFWI, and can attend events they organise. Whatever we do, we tend to have fun.
Our newssheet, Chit Chat, published monthly, gives details of upcoming events, recent news and anything else members might need to know. This is available by e-mail, or as a hard copy at our monthly meetings.
