On 1st July we went to Lullingstone Castle for Federation's Centenary celebrations. Many of the WIs had produced a scarecrow, and you can see some of them in the picture gallery below. Click on the thumbnail to get a larger version of each photo.
Our very own scarecrow, "Ms R and the future generation", is pictured on the right - made by Unity, our President, with help from Val, Davina, Jo and Jean.
It was a very, very hot day, and we were thoroughly appreciative of the hard work put in by everyone involved, particularly the ladies doing the refreshments.
The house was open, as was the church, and we all enjoyed wandering around the World Garden, created by Tom Hart Dyke on his return in 2000 after being held hostage for nine months in Panama, where he had been on a plant hunting expedition.
